The challenge
The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College is an academy for pupils aged 11-18 and is part of The White Horse Federation, a multi-academy trust. The school wanted to reduce energy consumption and cut costs without deploying capital upfront. eEnergy was the ideal delivery partner, offering a turnkey solution and stress-free maintenance.
eEnergy conducted an audit-grade survey which showed that the school’s lighting consisted predominantly of obsolete fluorescent and halogen fixtures. This ageing, inefficient technology was costly to run and consumed a great deal of energy.
The solution
eEnergy proposed a Light-as-a-Service solution, enabling Ridgeway School to install efficient LED lighting with no upfront capital cost. The funding solution is compliant with Department for Education requirement, offering the school peace of mind.
Our enhanced DBS-checked experts installed the new lighting outside of school hours, minimising disruption to students and staff. The team delivered a point-for-point replacement of 1,955 fixtures which increased lux levels by 15-25% across 5 buildings. The brighter lighting provides an improved teaching and learning environment, while saving 48 tonnes of carbon annually and reducing lighting costs by 62%.
The results
eEnergy’s Light-as-a-Service solution delivered savings from day one while transforming lighting quality across the school.
- Carbon emissions reduced by 48 tCO2 annually, equivalent to 2285 trees
- Net savings of £11,474 in year one
- No ongoing maintenance for onsite team due to eEnergy’s comprehensive maintenance package
- 55,000 hour expected service life for new lighting
