The challenge

Stretford Grammar School was established in the 1920s and now educates over 900 pupils. Like many other public sector organisations, Stretford Grammar faced pressure to reduce running costs and improve efficiency, but lacked capital to invest in necessary upgrades. eEnergy was the ideal delivery partner, offering a turnkey solution and funding options compliant with Department for Education requirements.

The school’s existing lighting primarily consisted of ageing, inefficient fluorescent fixtures, including some non-standard types. Therefore, running and maintenance costs were high. The poor lighting quality made working and learning more difficult.

The solution

eEnergy’s expert team handled all stages of project delivery, beginning with an audit-grade survey. We designed a tailored solution, providing point-for-point replacement of 787 fittings in total. Installation was completed by our enhanced DBS-checked team and took place outside of school operating hours to minimise disruption to pupils and staff. eEnergy’s ongoing maintenance package means the new lighting is hassle-free.

Stretford Grammar have reduced their energy costs without requiring any upfront capital investment. The new LED lights have improved lighting quality and increased lux levels by 15-25%. The lighting system will also help aid student concentration, with lighting designs that are specifically created for a school environment.

The results

The lighting upgrade is set to deliver transformation benefits for Stretford Grammar. Brighter lighting has improved the teaching and learning environment across the school.

  • Cash positive from day one, due to eEnergy’s funding solution, with savings of £5060 in the first year
  • £148,724 savings in 10 years
  • Carbon emissions reduced by 30 tCO2 per year, equivalent to 1431 trees

Testimonial

We have noticed huge benefits since we switched to LED lighting with eEnergy. Not only are our lights great quality, but eEnergy have enabled us to start meeting our climate change objectives.
